This listing is for a full bolt of traditional Japanese fabric intended to be made into an obi sash. These bolts are wonderfully versatile (and reversible!) - they can be tied as a kimono belt, unrolled as an elegant table runner, or repurposed into entirely new creations.

Bold cresting waves roll across this striking orange and cream woven obi fabric, creating a wonderfully graphic design filled with movement. Repeating stylized waves curl into high foaming crests around what appears to be a small boat or vessel riding through the turbulent water, with scattered droplets adding to the sense of spray and motion. The imagery is woven directly into the fabric rather than applied to the surface, and the reversible construction flips the dominant orange and cream colors for two dramatically different looks. Waves are traditionally associated with resilience, strength, and the ability to move through life's changes, making the energetic pattern especially meaningful.

The fabric is a continuous full length with a reversible woven design and could be used as an obi.

The fabric is a substantial weave that is both pliable and sturdy – perfect tied into a bow at the back of a kimono, and just as perfect as a table runner or wall décor. Plenty of fabric to convert into home décor (pillows!) or an elegant jacket or coat…?
