This listing is for a full bolt of traditional Japanese fabric intended to be made into an obi sash. These bolts are wonderfully versatile (and reversible!) - they can be tied as a kimono belt, unrolled as an elegant table runner, or repurposed into entirely new creations.

Rich plum red-purple, luminous silver, and flashes of turquoise blue give this woven obi fabric a striking mid-century geometric look. One side features large stylized blossoms enclosed within staggered silver rectangular frames, intersected by narrow metallic bands that create an almost architectural grid across the fabric. The reverse transforms the composition into a more abstract arrangement of interlocking rectangles crossed by vivid blue lines, rather than simply reversing the floral imagery, making the two sides distinctly different in character.

The fabric is a continuous full length and could be used as an obi.

Signs of age are present, including a visible fold line.

The fabric is a substantial weave that is both pliable and sturdy – perfect tied into a bow at the back of a kimono, and just as perfect as a table runner or wall décor. Plenty of fabric to convert into home décor (pillows!) or an elegant jacket or coat…?
