This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori (kimono jacket) that we modified slightly to allow for a roomier fit on larger frames.

This Oki Haori is a rich orange color (very auspicious in Japanese culture) with a design of the fog motif accented in green. Leaves, curling lines and little berries were woven into the silk background with a twisting technique so that they add a bit of texture and shimmer in the light when the fabric moves.

Great medium weight silk with a flowy drape.

In our Oki Haori Line (oki means "big" in Japanese) of modified haori jackets, we open up the gusset and underarm seams and then re-attached them using every inch of the salvage seam edges. (See photo for detail.) This yields up to an additional 6" of width in the waist, hip, and bust measurements.

Whereas unmodified haori tend to be more narrow at the bust because the side gussets gradually narrow from waist to bust, our Oki Haori do not taper at the bust, which gives you more coverage in front. Compare your measurements to those given, keeping in mind that the measurements we give are the haori measurements, not a recommendation for the wearer's measurements.
