This listing is for a full bolt of traditional Japanese fabric intended to be made into an obi sash. These bolts are wonderfully versatile (and reversible!) - they can be used as is for a kimono belt, unrolled as an elegant table runner, or repurposed into entirely new creations.

This obi bolt features a bold repeat of stylized flowers - kiku (chrysanthemums) and karahana (four-petaled Chinese flower, also referred to as "the imaginary flower"). The crimson red and buttercream yellow are luminous and vivid. The design has an overall arabesque quality - regal and refined!

Unfortunately, there is an occasional blemish on the lighter yellow areas, see last photo. Still, a striking textile!

The fabric is a thick weave that is both pliable and sturdy – perfect for being tied into an elaborate bow at the back of a kimono, and just a perfect as table or wall décor. Plenty of fabric to convert into home décor (pillows!) or an elegant jacket or coat…?
