This listing is for a vintage Japanese furoshiki - a very handy, sturdy, multi-use wrapping cloth used in Japan.  A folded furoshiki can also be easily carried in a purse or backpack to provide a makeshift carrier for groceries or purchases.

This vibrant furoshiki has a classic feel with four traditional Japanese patterns arranged like a perfectly balanced quilt block. Each quadrant showcases a different motif, including asanoha (star hemp), basketweave, and seigaiha waves. The combination creates a lively textile full of character and nostalgia. Perfect for wrapping gifts, as well as table decor. Soft rayon cloth with a nice drape.

18" x 19"

Artistic furoshiki (often silk) are traditionally used as gift wrap but also make creative wall or table displays. Furoshiki in solid colors or with printed patterns (often cotton or rayon) are more casual versions used for shopping, transporting goods, or storing items at home. These days furoshiki are popular as upcycled grocery totes or to carry whatever we used to carry in a non-recyclable plastic bag.
