This listing is for a vintage Japanese nagoya obi. This obi is 12.75 feet in total length with the wide section 98 inches long and the narrow section 55 inches long. The wide section is fully patterned at 12 inches in width, while the narrow section is solid green silk 6 inches in width.

The patterning on this obi is a joyful scene of dancers seeming to enjoy their own holiday celebration.  The vivid green background - quite unusual - is simply gorgeous behind the finely woven figures in motion. Each dancer is dressed in an ornate kimono; some carry fans and drums that suggest Edo period street festivals. Look closely to see all the expressive faces and gesturing hands. This obi offers both visual storytelling and wearable charm.
