This listing is for a traditional Japanese work vest. This style was designed with a roomy, sleeveless cut that could be easily layered over other clothing while allowing freedom of movement. Often worn by laborers, tradesmen, farmers, and others engaged in physical work.

Rustic charm meets bold geometry in this oversized vintage cotton vest, featuring a rich indigo ground with a striking ikat (kasuri) woven design. Soft blue pine boughs, traditionally symbols of longevity and resilience, weave between abstract geometric shapes with beautifully blurred edges characteristic of the ikat technique.  The contrasting black collar adds a clean, structured finish.

Signs of age are present with scattered blemishes, light discoloration, fading, and general wear consistent with its age and history of use.
