This listing is for a vintage Japanese wedding kimono (uchikake). An uchikake is draped over top of a kakeshita kimono underlayer, left open without an obi, and has a padded hem as it was once meant to trail across the floor behind the bride.

A dramatic celebration of autumn beauty and ceremonial elegance, this wedding kimono unfolds like a moving landscape beneath soaring white cranes. Richly embroidered mums and autumn field florals bloom across a luminous gold background, their warm rust, saffron, blush, and soft pink tones drifting between sweeping bands of stylized waves. The cranes glide gracefully through the composition, symbols of longevity and harmony, while pine and seasonal botanicals anchor the design with a sense of endurance and abundance.

Accents of gold leaf shimmer throughout, creating depth and motion that shifts with the light, giving the entire garment a powerful, poetic presence that is equally breathtaking as a statement piece of textile art whether worn or displayed.

A wedding kimono makes a gorgeous display of Japanese art and culture and can be an heirloom treasure handed down generation after generation. View the slide show below to be amazed at these elaborate works of artistry!

If you plan to display this kimono, we offer sturdy wooden rods for hanging - see options in the tab below.
