This listing is for a vintage Japanese furoshiki - a very handy, sturdy, multi-use wrapping cloth used in Japan.  

Bright and lively, this vintage furoshiki brings a pop of sunshine to any gift with its bold yellow palette and black store emblem. The marking reads Marui Imai, the name of a historic Hokkaido department store, paired with their stylized logo. Soft, lightweight cotton that easily ties.

There are some scattered mottling blemishes, but still usable in very good vintage condition.

Artistic furoshiki (often silk) are traditionally used as gift wrap but also make creative wall or table displays. Furoshiki in solid colors or with printed patterns (often cotton or rayon) are more casual versions used for shopping, transporting goods, or storing items at home. These days furoshiki are popular as upcycled grocery totes or to carry whatever we used to carry in a non-recyclable plastic bag.
