This listing is for a contemporary (1980s or 90s) Japanese han (half-width) maru-style obi. Maru obi are the most formal style of obi with patterning on both sides (which makes it more expensive). Japanese obi make elegant table runners, mantle covers, or wall decor.

This formal obi features alternating crests (komon) of a butterfly and a three-petal floral in red or green against a woven gold background.  In the gold you'll also see patterning that catches the light.

The backside is solid orange. There is one area of blemishing that could be concealed if the obi is displayed or worn - see last photo - priced accordingly.

11' long and 8" wide. Excellent condition.

See the videos below to learn about the different styles of obi as well as ways to use them in your decor. If you're planning to display the obi, consider adding one of our wooden display rods to your order.
