This is a maru obi - the highest level of formality - but it is only half the width of the standard maru obi. ("Han" means "half" in Japanese.) This could be by design or more likely this obi was re-made from a wider obi (perhaps it was damaged or a more narrow obi was needed for the occasion). Like a maru obi, it is features a woven pattern on both sides with traditional motifs.

This obi is a heavily woven brocade of vintage colors - greens, soft purples, wine, and gold on a cream background. The design includes many florals, pine, and a pair of cranes. Lots of traditional imagery.

The obi is 6 inches wide and 10 feet long. There are subtle signs of age but is in overall very good condition.
