This listing is for a contemporary (1980s or 90s) Japanese han (half-width) maru-style obi. Maru obi are the most formal style of obi with patterning on both sides (which makes it more expensive). Japanese obi make elegant table runners, mantle covers, or wall decor.

This formal obi features the "connected Y" motif known as Bishamon Kikko, a sign for protection and good luck as symbolized by the armor of Bishamon, one of the Four Kings of Buddhism.

Patterned on both sides - it's reversible!

11' long and 8" wide. Excellent condition.
