This listing is for an antique "yogi" sleeping kimono that would have once been padded and lined, used like a comforter at night.

Striking, rare, and steeped in lived history, this antique indigo-dyed yogi sleeping kimono features a dramatic crane crest paired with flowing wave motifs, imagery associated with longevity, protection, and rest. Traditionally worn at night like a padded comforter, this example has had its original lining and padding removed, revealing the beautifully worn outer shell with visible fading, repairs, stains, and structural irregularities that speak to long use. The fabric shows deep, varied indigo tones and clear signs of age throughout, making this a compelling study piece rather that a wearable garment. Scarce and increasingly difficult to find, this yogi is best suited for the serious collector of Japanese folk textiles or for display as an evocative wall-hung artifact.

See the video below about the indigo dyeing process.

If you're going to display this kimono and want to add a sturdy but simple hanging rod, click that option below. (The rod must be shipped separately.)
