This listing is for a hanten jacket. A hanten is a traditional Japanese short jacket, typically made of cotton and worn as practical work clothing, with some examples featuring bold crests, company names, or symbols identifying a business, shop, or organization.

Bold and dramatically graphic, this dark indigo hanten is covered with large resist-dyed lettering and geometric insignia that give it the character of a vintage Japanese trade coat. The lettering on the front appears to read "Yoshida," likely a family or business name, while the oversized circular kanji on the back is an old form of kotobuki, meaning congratulations.  

Signs of age are present with scattered blemishes, discoloration, fading, and general wear consistent with its age and history of use.
