This listing is for a vintage Japanese maru-style obi.  Maru are usually the most expensive version of an obi since they are 14" wide for the full length and patterned on both sides, even though one side will never be seen by the public. Maru obi are worn for the most formal occasions, such as weddings.

This obi showcases a pair of houou or hoo birds (phoenix) on top of sensu (folding fans) and surrounded in various florals. Phoenix are considered yokai (mythical spirits) in Japanese folklore. They usually symbolize renewal and rebirth, as well as peace and prosperity because they don't cause harm to others. The color palette has shades of brown, with a mix of greens and orange.

If you need a display rod for your obi, you can add one at check out.
