Like constellations scattered across a summer sky, this indigo - almost black - kimono features a light blue ikat weave. The pattern includes many different small traditional motifs, and this required time-intensive work to prepare and weave. This is a double-ikat weave, meaning that both the warp and weft threads were resist-dyed before weaving.  

The overall small patterning is typical of casual kimono, meant for everyday wear.  The fiber seems to be a cotton-wool blend, and it is unlined.
