This listing is for a vintage Japanese furoshiki - a very handy, sturdy, multi-use wrapping cloth used in Japan.

This vintage furoshiki brings a calm, earthy charm with its deep forest green and hand dyed details that feel wonderfully organic and lived-in. The bold characters in one corner translate to Yamada, a traditional family name, and the elegant crest in the other corner features a circular wisteria crest that symbolizes refinement and long-lasting connection.

There are some natural dye variations in the cotton cloth and signs of use, including some fading and mottling which adds character and authenticity.

42" x 43"

Artistic furoshiki (often silk) are traditionally used as gift wrap but also make creative wall or table displays. Furoshiki in solid colors or with printed patterns (often cotton or rayon) are more casual versions used for shopping, transporting goods, or storing items at home. These days furoshiki are popular as upcycled grocery totes or to carry whatever we used to carry in a non-recyclable plastic bag.
