This listing is for a set of 20 vintage menko cards in a round, printed, collectible style that were popular in the 1950s to 1970s. Menko is a Japanese flipping and slamming game that dates back centuries - there aren't many videos that show how to play but click here for one.

This is a set of matching groups of four designs, which would be for four players.  Two sets are slightly smaller than the others. It's a bit odd to have all five matching cards, since the object of the game is to "win" the cards of your opponents.  So most well-used "decks" would have cards from different sets.

The cards here are colorful and round, featuring bold Edo style illustrations of warriors, swordsmen, and heroic characters. Each is printed in bright traditional colors with expressive faces and finely detailed armor. The reverse sides show symbolic game markings, from crossed katana to hand signs and dice.

There are five of the 4" cards, and six of the 3.25" cards. We have wrapped them in a small, embroidered handkerchief wrapped like a furoshiki that is included.
