This listing is for a vintage Japanese furoshiki - a very handy, sturdy, multi-use wrapping cloth used in Japan.  A folded furoshiki can also be easily carried in a purse or backpack to provide a makeshift carrier for groceries or purchases.

Bring home a touch of Japanese elegance with this soft green vintage furoshiki with small motifs in the corners. One corner includues a bundle of fish from a mountain stream, while the other corner includes stylized characters that spell Yamada, the original owner's family or merchant name.

Lightweight rayon with a slight shimmer to the weave and soft drape. Understated, nature inspired design.

26.5" x 26"

Artistic furoshiki (often silk) are traditionally used as gift wrap but also make creative wall or table displays. Furoshiki in solid colors or with printed patterns (often cotton or rayon) are more casual versions used for shopping, transporting goods, or storing items at home. These days furoshiki are popular as upcycled grocery totes or to carry whatever we used to carry in a non-recyclable plastic bag.
