This listing is for a vintage Japanese kimono made for a young girl to wear.

This vintage Japanese kimono glows in a rich burnt orange, its surface woven with chrysanthemum (kiku) framed inside the flowing curves of the tatewaku (rising steam) motif. This pattern is associated with upward growth and creates a rhythmic wave that carries the mums upward as if floating on warm air. The tone-on-tone jacquard shifts with the light, creating depth and shimmer. The hem and sleeve edges are padded.

There are some tears in the lining at the shoulders, see last photos. These should be repaired before the kimono is worn but no need if the kimono is to be displayed.

Vintage Japanese children's kimono make eye-catching displays in spaces too small to accommodate a full-sized kimono. We offer display rods (click the tab below) if you're going to display this kimono.
