This listing is for a vintage Japanese kimono made for a young girl, but with a few twists.

The color, design, and style is surely the definition of a young girl's kimono, but the black collar, red and purple lining, and the slight padding at the sleeve edges make this a very unusual piece.  It could be dance or theater-related, possibly even made for a very small adult. While its age is impossible to define, it could be from the Taisho Period (1920s), despite its excellent condition.

A delightful celebration of Spring, this silk kimono pairs graceful carriage wheels with clouds of tiny cherry blossoms, stylized flowers, fluttering butterflies, and swallows in flight. The wheels symbolize elegance and noble heritage, while butterflies represent joyful growth and transformation, creating a cheerful design full of wishes for a bright future.

There are signs of age with a couple blemishes, but they are hard to see amongst the vivid colors, see last photo.

This kimono has a 3" tuck at each shoulder that can be taken out to allow for more width if desired.

Vintage Japanese children's kimono make eye-catching displays in spaces too small to accommodate a full-sized kimono. We offer display rods (click the tab below) if you're going to display this kimono.
