This listing is for a vintage Japanese yukata kimono made for a teen girl. To learn more about these type of kimono read below.

A playful mix of retro geometry and Japanese tradition gives this vintage teen girl's cotton yukata a wonderfully graphic appeal! Deep crimson and cream create a lively allover pattern of pixel-like diamonds, crosses, and squares, stenciled with softly feathered edges to imitate the look of woven ikat (kasuri). Scattered throughout are stylized calligraphic characters, possibly expressing congratulations or good fortune, adding a celebratory touch to the bold geometric design.

Shows some mottling and uneven coloration consistent with age and previous use, see last photo.

Traditional Japanese yukata are lightweight cotton kimono worn during the warmer months, particularly for summer festivals, fireworks celebrations, and casual outings. Originally associated with bathing and relaxation, yukata evolved into popular summer garments, often featuring bold geometric patterns, playful motifs, and classic indigo-and-white designs. Yukata were typically made without a full lining for breathability.

Vintage Japanese children's kimono make eye-catching displays in spaces too small to accommodate a full-sized kimono. We offer display rods (click the tab below) if you're going to display this kimono.

If purchasing this to be worn, please check the measurements given carefully.  Children's kimono run small!
