A moment of perfect stillness unfolds across the lining of this striking haori, where a lone boatman glides past a pavilion poised over silvery water beneath pine trees and a flight of golden birds. Woven in subdued dark brown, gray, black, gold, and luminous silver, the tranquil waterscape has the atmospheric quality of a traditional Japanese landscape painting, with water suggesting life's continuing flow and the soaring birds adding a sense of freedom and journey.

The understated black outer fabric is finished with five crossed-feather family crests, creating an elegant contrast to the richly detailed scene hidden within.
