This listing is for a traditional underkimono (juban in Japanese) designed to be worn beneath a woman's kimono. Underkimono make great robes because they are shorter than over-kimono so they don't have the extra length that is folded over to pad the waist. See the video below about how juban are traditionally worn.

This kimono features the shochikubai motif - the" three friends of winter" - pine, bamboo, and plum blossom. These motifs are scattered across a faux shibori lattice. Some elements are outlined in gold embroidery (couching) and gold paint.

Underkimono have a white collar that would be covered with an embroidered over-collar, which is the only part of this garment that would be seen by the public.

There is a three-inch tuck at the waist - this is how the kimono was shortened - which can be let our if more length is desired.

This kimono doesn't include a belt but we do offer casual cotton sashes that can be added at checkout.  If you're planning to display this kimono, consider our 60" hanging rods, which can also be added at check out.
