This listing is for a traditional underkimono (juban in Japanese) designed to be worn beneath a woman's kimono. Underkimono make great robes because they are shorter than over-kimono so they don't have the extra length that is folded over to pad the waist. We named this kimono "Mikan" after the delicious little variety of orange that is so popular in Japan. This bright, rich color is dotted with white fluffy clouds that were created with the shibori technique.

The silk jacquard features a woven sayagata (diagonal cross) pattern. There is also a four-inch tuck at the waist that can easily be released if more length is desired.

Underkimono have a basic white collar which would be covered with an embroidered over-collar - the only part of this garment that would be seen by the public.  An over-collar is added to match the formality of the outer kimono.
