This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori jacket that would have been worn on top of a vintage kimono on a chilly day.  

This striking woman's haori jacket features an asymmetrical, balanced design of bamboo created with the shibori tie-dye technique. The careful handwork created textured clusters of leaves in pink and white that contrast beautifully against the black silk background. Look closely to see the subtle tone-on-tone jacquard weave of flowing water and florals. A beautiful piece of wearable textile art!

There is one small blemish on the edge of the front sleeve (see last photo), but it doesn't distract from the amazing beauty. Still in excellent condition.

Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath. An optional accessory is the haori himo - little woven ties that are hooked to the little fabric loops that you'll find at the mid-front of the haori - but they are sold separately.
