This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori (kimono jacket) that we modified slightly to allow for a roomier fit on larger frames.

Bring home a gentle landscape that feels like a woodblock print: soft rolling hills, maple leaves, pine boughs, persimmons, and tiny huts printed in a charming painterly style across a cream floral jacquard background. Likely dyed with a stencil but with an unusual process that created deliberately uneven tones in the dye work, possibly intending to suggest a wabi-sabi-ness from age or use. It has a hand-stamped character, with sage greens, dusky blues, warm golds, and brick reds that create a calm yet expressive scene. The subtle woven tone-on-tone jacquard adds dimension without overwhelming the artwork. Serene Japanese countryside!

As with many light-colored vintage garments, there are a few small blemishes near the sleeve edges (see last photo), but they are hard to notice without looking closely.

In our Oki Haori Line (oki means "big" in Japanese) of modified haori jackets, we open up the gusset and underarm seams and then re-attached them using every inch of the salvage seam edges. This yields up to additional inches in the waist, hip, and bust measurements.

Whereas unmodified haori tend to be narrower at the bust because the side gussets gradually narrow from waist to bust, our Oki Haori do not taper at the bust, which gives you more coverage in front. Compare your measurements to those given, keeping in mind that the measurements we give are the haori measurements, not a recommendation for the wearer's measurements.
