This listing is for an underkimono - called a juban in Japanese - which would be worn under a man's kimono. Juban often feature designs that reflect the interests of their owner but are rarely seen in public since they are layered underneath a kimono. Just in inch or two of the over-collar is visible, though you may catch a glimpse of the sleeve edge at the wrist. Juban make great casual robes.

This juban is semi-formal, with a printed (painted?) feature design at the center back and additional detail at the hem.

The featured scene is dominated by Mt. Fuji, overseeing its domain beyond its foothills.  Below could be any one of the Five Fuji Lakes, with its rocky and tree-lined shores and a calm bay where a fisherman's house rests among the pine. Note the pile of drying fisherman's net called aboshi and the artist's signature on the left.

The over-collar is blue, and the juban is not lined. Unfortunately, there are a few blemishes (see last photos) but they are primarily located on the front, so this kimono would still make an excellent display.

This kimono does not come with an obi/belt/sash, but we do make simple cotton sashes that can be added as an option when you order. We will choose a color that goes well with it.
