This listing is for a dochugi-style vintage kimono jacket, which crosses over in the kimono style (unlike the haori style which hangs open in the front). But instead of needing an obi, it closes with inner and outer ties, which can be tied loosely to allow for a more generous fit. Where haori are best for up to a size 12, dochugi can fit up to a size 16+.

Beautiful dye work!  The background, cloud-like effect was likely done with wide, flat brushes, but the winding path and roadside hut and trees were likely created with a rice paste resist and then painted by hand with a small brush. 

Behind the dye work is a silk jacquard of subtle, arching grasses.

Matching fabric ties close the jacket on the right front hip. The inner tie at the left hip was made from the lining silk.

Please note that the measurement given for the waist/hips is the full, end-to-end measurement around the middle. The ties can usually add 3-4 more inches of coverage depending on how tightly or loosely they are tied.
