This listing is for an underkimono - called a "juban" in Japanese - which would be worn under a man's kimono. Learn more about this type of kimono below.

Like pages scattered from an old traveler’s journal, this striking men’s underkimono layers miniature landscapes and poetry across a warm brown background with a delicate web-like pattern. The overlapping, intentionally tattered-edged pages depict Mount Fuji, pine branches beneath a full moon, a rocky shoreline with waves, and a distant pagoda. Accented in muted blue, green, gray, cream, black, and gold.

Juban often feature designs that reflect the interests of their owner but are rarely seen in public since they are layered underneath a kimono. Just an inch or two of the over-collar is visible, though you may catch a glimpse of the sleeve edge at the wrist. Juban make great casual robes.

This kimono does not come with an obi/belt/sash, but we do make simple cotton sashes that can be added as an option when you order. We will choose a color that goes well with it.
