A powerful hawk, poised dramatically among the twisting branches of an old pine is the focal point of this smoky blue men’s underkimono, Rendered in warm brown, gray, black, and touches of green, the hawk features finely detailed feathers and curved talons.

The pairing of hawk and pine carries especially strong symbolism, combining the hawk’s associations with strength, courage, and keen vision with the pine’s enduring qualities of longevity and resilience. An artist’s signature and red seal appear on the front.

This garment is unlined. Signs of age are present, including visible blemishes and discoloration on the front. Priced accordingly.

Juban often feature designs that reflect the interests of their owner but are rarely seen in public since they are layered underneath a kimono. Just an inch or two of the over-collar is visible, though you may catch a glimpse of the sleeve edge at the wrist. Juban make great casual robes.

This kimono does not come with an obi/belt/sash, but we do make simple cotton sashes that can be added as an option when you order. We will choose a color that goes well with it.
