This is a casual han obi. Learn more about this type of kimono below.

Understated at first glance yet deeply symbolic upon closer inspection, this black silk han obi carries woven kanji reading "fukuju", meaning good fortune and long life. The subtle tone-on-tone weave allows the characters to emerge quietly from the silk. The characters appear at the ends suggesting auspicious celebration. This is a meaningful accessory as well as a versatile styling piece. Pairs beautifully with both minimalist and patterned kimono.

"Han" means "half" in Japanese. A han obi is a shorter, narrower obi traditionally worn with casual kimono or yukata, especially in warmer seasons. They are often easy to tie and feature playful or artistic designs for relaxed, everyday styling rather than formal occasions.
