This listing is for a vintage Japanese kimono meant to be worn for formal dancing, where the high-contrast halves of the design offers the dance more options for expression. 

Command the room without saying a word. This striking asymmetrical kimono contrasts soft ivory with black - night and day, good and evil, rich and poor? On the black portion, we find an ornate arabesque floral motif rendered in radiant gold leaf and metallic thread embroidery. The cascading design flows diagonally across the body and look closely to see the floral tone-on-tone jacquard.

Unfortunately, there are signs of age with some fading visible on the black panels and blemishes on the lighter areas, see last photos, and priced accordingly.
