This listing is for an underkimono - called a "juban" in Japanese - which would be worn under a man's kimono. Learn more about this type of kimono below.

Power and motion define this men’s underkimono, where a magestic hawk commands a stormy seascape. The large hawk spreads its wings from a wave-battered rock as rolling waves and white sea spray surge around it.  The layered gray, black, cream, brown, and muted gold accents highlight the detailed plumage and powerful talons. A classic masculine motif in Japanese art, the hawk symbolizes strength, courage, keen vision, and ambition; the turbulent waves suggest resilience and perseverance through adversity.

Juban often feature designs that reflect the interests of their owner but are rarely seen in public since they are layered underneath a kimono. Just an inch or two of the over-collar is visible, though you may catch a glimpse of the sleeve edge at the wrist. Juban make great casual robes.

This kimono does not come with an obi/belt/sash, but we do make simple cotton sashes that can be added as an option when you order. We will choose a color that goes well with it.
