This listing is for a contemporary (1980s or 90s) Japanese han (half-width) maru-style obi. Maru obi are the most formal style of obi with patterning on both sides (which makes it more expensive). Japanese obi make elegant table runners, mantle covers, or wall decor.

The background motif is a checkerboard with gold and silver alternating with black squares. In every black square is a bright red paulownia crest - so striking!

The backside is the same fabric - reversible!

11' long and 7" wide. Excellent condition.
