This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori jacket that would have been worn on top of a vintage kimono on a chilly day.  

This haori is a feminine throwback to more innocent times in the 1950s. The background color is a sweet pink tone, and the silk has a woven jacquard pattern of arrow fletching in a diagonal orientation.

The floral pattern – likely printed but possibly stenciled – features a series of large paulownia and a cherry blossom stylized to include more florals within each one.  Even the little flowers at the top of the paulownia element were modified to make them tiny cherry blossoms!

Gray and dark red accents really seem to balance the design.

There is a small blemish – see photo – but we don’t feel it detracts from the beauty and wearability of this haori. 

Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath. An optional accessory is the haori himo - little woven ties that are hooked to the little fabric loops that you'll find at the mid-front of the haori - but they are sold separately.
