This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori jacket that would have been worn on top of a vintage kimono on a chilly day.  

Lots of original shibori pucker still soft to the touch with this unusual haori jacket.  The palette mixes gold and brown to create a moving pattern of color beneath the shibori design.  That design is of the traditional “fog” pattern, and in this case some of the pattern is filled with a shippo (overlapping circles) motif and others are filled with kanoko (fawn spot) shibori dots.

So much craftsmanship – both in the dye work and the shibori handwork – went into this jacket and a fun lining!

Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath. An optional accessory is the haori himo - little woven ties that are hooked to the little fabric loops that you'll find at the mid-front of the haori - but they are sold separately.
