This listing is for an underkimono - called a "juban" in Japanese - which would be worn under a man's kimono. Juban often feature designs that reflect the interests of their owner but are rarely seen in public since they are layered underneath a kimono. Just in inch or two of the over-collar is visible, though you may catch a glimpse of the sleeve edge at the wrist. Juban make great casual robes.

This juban features samurai warrior-themed motifs that were typically used for formal or celebration purposes, especially for younger men. Most prominent is the kabuto (samurai helmet) with the katana (long curved swords) and shimenawa rope and knots behind. Look closely to see the oak leaf and tomoe (three comma) crest motifs. Even more, the white chevron zigzag band adds movement and rhythm to the overall design.

The over-collar is black with a cream lining.

This kimono does not come with an obi/belt/sash, but we do make simple cotton sashes that can be added as an option when you order. We will choose a color that goes well with it.
