This listing is for an underkimono - called a "juban" in Japanese - which would be worn under a man's kimono. Juban often feature designs that reflect the interests of their owner but are rarely seen in public since they are layered underneath a kimono. Just in inch or two of the over-collar is visible, though you may catch a glimpse of the sleeve edge at the wrist. Juban make great casual robes.

This juban features travelers along the famous Tokaido Road - a traditional route from Edo to Kyoto. In this depiction, Mt Fuji is shown many times and symbolizes the significance and national importance of this natural wonder. Look closely to see all the details - lots of figures, bridges, boats, and castles.

The over-collar is black with a cream lining.

This kimono does not come with an obi/belt/sash, but we do make simple cotton sashes that can be added as an option when you order. We will choose a color that goes well with it.
