This listing is for a vintage Japanese furoshiki - a very handy, sturdy, multi-use wrapping cloth used in Japan.  

This furoshiki features a beautiful kelly green silk with a paulownia crest. In the opposite corner are two kanji which say "Yamada" - likely the name of the gift giver. Comes with the original box.

Artistic furoshiki (often silk) are traditionally used as gift wrap but also make creative wall or table displays. Furoshiki in solid colors or with printed patterns (often cotton or rayon) are more casual versions used for shopping, transporting goods, or storing items at home. These days furoshiki are popular as upcycled grocery totes or to carry whatever we used to carry in a non-recyclable plastic bag.
