Description

This listing is for a full "bolt" of black silk intended to be made into a traditional fukuro obi.

Still in its original wrapper, this bolt features an angled lozenge motif that is placed to suggest a mountain peak surrounded by clouds. Many other traditional elements fill the design.

The weaving is fairly stiff, as expected for an obi - making the weight and feel excellent for pillows, vests, trim, or wall decor.

This full bolt is 5+ yards long with alternating solid and patterned sections: 48 inches of plain weave, then 92 inches of the repeated motifs, then 38 inches of plain weave that would be hidden as an underlayer when the obi was wrapped. At the very end is another 16 inches of pattern that would be part of the bow when tied.

The original coated-paper wrapper is a nice bonus.
