This is a pair of formal hakama for a man. Learn more about this type of garment below.

Rich and striking, this man's pants-style hakama features wide divided legs crafted from a heavy brocade woven with a gleaming gold geometric grid, stylized floral medallions, and smaller blossoms. The bold combination of florals and structured geometry creates a sense of harmony and continuity, while the substantial metallic weave gives the hakama an especially luxurious presence.

These hakama do not have ties attached to the back panel, nor do they have the traditional stiff panel in the back that would normally ride over an obi.  So perhaps these are theatrical?  The cotton narrow ties that extend from the front panel will wrap around the back to secure the fit but an obi would be worn on top of those ties.

Front Panel: 33" L, 14-30" W

Back Panel: 44" L, 30" W

Hakama are traditional Japanese garments worn over a kimono, recognized for their wide, flowing shape and distinctive pleats. There are two main styles: pants style, which are constructed like very wide-legged pants, and skirt style, which have a continuous, skirt-like, undivided shape. Both styles create a similar graceful silhouette when worn and have historically been used for formal dress, ceremonies, martial arts, and other traditional occasions.
