This listing is for a vintage Japanese maru-style obi.  Maru are usually the most expensive version of an obi since they are 14" wide for the full length and patterned on both sides, even though one side will never be seen by the public. Maru obi are worn for the most formal occasions, such as weddings.

At first glance you might think this obi is displaying shochikubai (three friends of winter) with the prominent pine (longevity), bamboo (resilience) and plum blossom (hope). But this design has "an extra friend" - colorful chrysanthemums seem to be tagging along, even though they are more of an autumn motif. 

A tea-colored background sets the stage for shades of dark green and accents colors of cream, red, blue, purple, and orange.
