This listing is for an underkimono - called a juban in Japanese - which would be worn under a man's kimono. Juban often feature designs that reflect the interests of their owner but are rarely seen in public since they are layered underneath a kimono. Just in inch or two of the over-collar is visible, though you may catch a glimpse of the sleeve edge at the wrist. Juban make great casual robes.

The pattern on this juban alternates checkered and solid black horizontal bands as the background to dozens of double-ended drums called den-den daiko. These hand-held pellet drums are typically used in Shinto-Buddhist ceremonies. Look even closer to see the three tomoe (the comma-like swirl symbols) displayed on some of the drums, along with other geometric and floral designs.

The over-collar is blue, and the juban is lined in white.

Juban make great robes and cover ups but watch the video below to see how to layer the juban with a kimono.

This kimono does not come with an obi/belt/sash, but we do make simple cotton sashes that can be added as an option when you order. We will choose a color that goes well with it.

If you'd like to display the kimono, we offer hanging rods in five colors (brown, black, natural, white, and red) - see the Add a Display Rod? tab below.
