This listing is for a vintage Japanese haori jacket that would have been worn on top of a vintage kimono on a chilly day.  

Steeped in tradition and glowing in holiday red, this vintage haori jacket celebrates good fortune with every detail. Five floral family crests suggest formality, while the painted gold pine branches along the hem celebrate the season with wishes for a prosperous long life. 

Inside, a beautifully painted crane and tortoise, symbols of long life and luck, create a hidden artwork that feels like a personal blessing. Cultural significance and festive warmth! Like most vintage haori, this one was hand-sewn with all seams hidden, so it can be flipped inside out and worn or displayed that was as well!

There are some areas of discoloration where the red is slightly darker. It is hard to tell if it is a variation in the dye work or a blemish. See last photo. 

Haori do not cross over or tie with a sash, like a kimono does - they are meant to be worn open to reveal a bit of what is worn beneath. An optional accessory is the haori himo - little woven ties that are hooked to the little fabric loops that you'll find at the mid-front of the haori - but they are sold separately.
