This listing is for a vintage Japanese kinchaku (drawstring) purse. These are a prized accessory for a kimono-clad woman even today. They're typically made with kimono fabric, have a flat base, and tend to be used for casual, rather than formal, occasions.

This bag has a square flat bottom covered in the same fabric as the pouch. The patterning is an intricate woven design of ornate medallions with animal pairs. Horses? Tigers? Fu dogs? The fabric has shades of red with black and gray for contrast.

Red cording is threaded through the sewn loops at the top to cinch the bag closed.
