This listing is for a vintage Japanese wedding kimono called a shiromuku.   This is a white (shiro means white in Japanese) version of the uchikake, which is draped over top a kakeshita wedding kimono. It is left open without an obi and has a padded at the hem, as it was once meant to trail across the floor behind the bride.

This shiromuku features an all-white design of large cranes in flight and elaborately woven florals, all in white against a smooth, soft white silk. Cranes (tsuru) are often depicted on wedding kimono because they mate for life and symbolize a wish for a long and joyous marriage.

Unfortunately, as with most light-colored kimono, there are signs of wear and age on the front which would not be visible if displayed from the back. See the last photos. Priced accordingly.

These wedding kimono are a gorgeous display of Japanese art and culture and can be an heirloom treasure handed down generation after generation. View the slide show below to be amazed at these elaborate works of artistry!

If you plan to display this kimono, we offer sturdy wooden rods for hanging - see options in the tab below. See the slideshow below on how these are worn or displayed.
