This listing is for a vintage Japanese furoshiki - a very handy, sturdy, multi-use wrapping cloth used in Japan.  A folded furoshiki can also be easily carried in a purse or backpack to provide a makeshift carrier for groceries or purchases.

This vintage furoshiki has a rich forest green tone that immediately feels warm and grounded, the kind of textile that carries quiet history and everyday beauty. The white characters in one corner read Yamada, a classic family name, while the other corner features the elegant kiri crest, a stylized paulownia emblem traditionally associated with auspicious wishes and refinement.

35.5" x 37.5"

Artistic furoshiki (often silk) are traditionally used as gift wrap but also make creative wall or table displays. Furoshiki in solid colors or with printed patterns (often cotton or rayon) are more casual versions used for shopping, transporting goods, or storing items at home. These days furoshiki are popular as upcycled grocery totes or to carry whatever we used to carry in a non-recyclable plastic bag.
