This listing is for one yard from a deadstock bolt of unsewn, unused vintage Japanese kimono fabric.

This kimono fabric features the classic asanoha (hemp leaf) motif, a timeless Japanese geometric pattern symbolizing growth, resilience, and protection. Soft beige and golden brown threads are woven to form interlocking star-like shapes. Tradition and elegant minimalism.

But the real "ah-ha" of this fabric comes from a closer look at the backside, where you see that the golden-brown threads are flat not round. This is because those "threads" are actually washi paper coated with a lacquer solution and then cut into thin, thin strips for weaving. Yes, it's incredible.

Great for piecework, especially when combined with other vintage kimono remnants. Continuous yardage may be available.
