This listing is for an underkimono - called a "juban" in Japanese - which would be worn under a man's kimono. Juban often feature designs that reflect the interests of their owner but are rarely seen in public since they are layered underneath a kimono. Just in inch or two of the over-collar is visible, though you may catch a glimpse of the sleeve edge at the wrist. Juban make great casual robes.

This juban features an unusual design, indeed.  Thin, horizontal bands create several motif layers - one with florals and birds, others with angled geometric shapes, and - the highlight! - a parade of figures that seem to march in single file.  We see a large drum, the banners, horses, and what might be captured prey. Not to be missed are the "uniform" hats and loincloths.  

The over-collar is black, and the juban is lined in blue. The fabric is a lightweight smooth silk.

This kimono does not come with an obi/belt/sash and we rarely are able to carry men's obi. We do make simple cotton sashes that can be added as an option when you order. We will choose a color that goes well with it.
